Get your cameras out and start shooting. The deadline for entries for the 2010 Nature Vancouver Photo Competition is February 25, 2010.
The display of entries and delivery of critiques and presentations to award winners will be held at the Nature Vancouver General Meeting at the Unity Church, 5840 Oak Street, Vancouver at 7:30 p.m. on March 25, 2010.
Members may enter a maximum of fifteen digital photographs and compete in a maximum of three of the five categories. Up to fifteen photos may be entered in one category or spread over two or three categories. Not more than fifteen pictures and not more than three categories.
The Categories:
1. Birds. 2. Mammals. 3. Botany. 4. Entomology and Spiders. 5. Other Natural History.
The subjects eligible for the last category include reptiles, marine biology, geology and landscape. No photos of birds, plants, mammals, insects or spiders in this category please.
The judges will select a best in show (award $80.00) and a first (award $40.00) in each of the categories.
In addition to the above five categories a sixth category will be open to members of the Young Naturalists Club only. Any natural history subject is eligible for this category and the winner will receive the Al Grass Award.
It is preferred that nature subjects be presented in their natural environment. Evidence of the hand of man will not disqualify an entry but will lower its chances of a win.
