Birding at Fraserview Golf Course

PostDateIcon Tue, 2008/05/27 - 6:00pm | PostAuthorIcon Visitor

Regardless of the birding opportunities at Fraserview, Nature Vancouver members might want to be aware that “Audubon” approved golf courses are nothing to do with the National Audubon Society www.audubon.org  Golf course certification is a program of Audubon International, a different group that arose from the non-affiliated New York Audubon Society http://www.auduboninternational.org/programs/acss/golf.htm The program is one to which golf courses may subscribe.

National Audubon is a federation of ornithological societies who support biodiversity conservation and they do not “approve” or certify golf courses. Perpetuation of this mistake causes confusion and allows developers to greenwash (as was seen recently in Delta).

Thanks
