Hi Kelly,
What do you think this plant is?  It is growing by the side of the KVR trail in Myra Canyon at 1270m elevation.  It has a growth habit like a clematis, with several branches emerging from every node along a runner.  The petals fold up in the afternoon heat.

Maybe it is a clematis and has been planted by people along the trail.

Cheers, Ian

Hi Kelly, Thanks for your reply. I got an email from Terry MacIntosh, who said "Clematis occidentalis, one of my favorite interior plants! Native...spotty distribution but fairly common where you saw it." I think Clematis columbiana is the same plant. Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian, I think it is Clematis columbiana, Blue Clematis, that grows in BC's  southern interior and is a native species. Kelly
